Malaysian singer, Camelia: I Love Food! (Really?)
August 21st 2006 01:46 am
Crap! If I were deprived for weeks and weeks of food, I’d be equally excited as Camelia.

The skinny bug-eyed creature attacks!!!!
CAMELIA, the petite and modest Sarawakian songstress, greets everyone with a smile. Her humble disposition and soft-spoken nature makes it easy to take a liking to her.
Camelia tucking into her food with delight.
We first met at Hilton Kuala Lumpur some moons ago, and observing her easygoing nature with her friends, prompted me to talk to her when we bumped into each other at the washroom.
She obliged to dine at a restaurant of her choice to talk about food.
Stop faking it, she probably hasn’t eaten for days and I’m sure if it weren’t for the promotion of her album, she wouldn’t even have touched a fookin’ celery.
Camelia and her fashionable manager Maggie Abang Saufi did me the honours by making the arrangements for our dinner date at the restaurant of their choice.
Mezza Notte, an Italian outfit on Jalan Doraisamy is a place Camelia and Maggie frequent a lot simply because they like what it has to offer.
Camelia might fool people into thinking that she doesn’t eat much, after all, she is svelte but the songbird has a weakness for food and this, I found out at the dinner.
After exchanging pleasantries with her guests, The Loft KL (which owns Mezza Notte) director of operations Zoltan Gucsa brought out a rather big platter of Assorted Sushi and Sashimi from the Tokyo Sushi Bar, which adjoins Mezza Notte.
It is this combination of Japanese and Italian under one roof that Camelia appreciates.
“If I feel like having foie gras or teppanyaki, I can do so as the restaurant has them on the menu,” Camelia explained.
On this fanciful platter of perilla leaves, julienne radish and ice shavings were fine slices of tai, maguro, hamachi and shake.
For the main course, Crispy Duck Breast stuffed with Pan Seared Foie Gras accompanied by Orange Sauce was served.
This was a Camelia favourite and she let out sighs of pleasure as she delighted in the foie gras and game.
These duo do know how to milk it, don’t they? Foie gras and game, I wonder whether Camelia has checked whether the game she so loves to eat are halal?
For dessert, we had another Camelia favourite - Warm Chocolate Cake served with Honey Ice Cream, Pineapple Crispy.
Once again, Camelia’s expression showed how overwhelmed she was by the serving and I knew then, that Maggie was right, when she said Camelia loves food.
Well, I guess I should let the girl enjoy her food. She certainly deserves it, afterall it takes great discipline not to indulge. However, don’t be a fookin’ liar and claim to love food just cause you haven’t eaten any for weeks. A real food lover eats good food, every other day.
