Fat Mandy Moore broke her thick ankle

Mandy Moore fractured her ankle jumping off a boat for a Self magazine photo shoot, a rep for the actress tells PEOPLE.

“It happened at the end of February in Mexico,” her rep says. “It was for one of the setups for the spread where she had to jump into the water.”

Moore, 22, who has been sporting a walking cast on her right leg for the past few weeks, graces the cover of Self’s June issue.

It has certainly been an eventful few months for the actress, who told PEOPLE recently that she expected 2007 to be “a year of change.”

Her latest movie, Because I Said So, hit theaters in February; her new album, Wild Hope, debuts May 8 – and just last month she ended her romance with DJ AM.

“I’ve been going through this really crazy time in my life,” Moore told Jane in February.

Life got even crazier on Saturday, when she was slimed at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
