Uma Thurman and hotelier Andre Balazs have ended their three-year, on-again off-again relationship, a source close to the actress tells PEOPLE.

The breakup of Thurman, 36, and Balazs, 50 – who had begun dating in late 2003 – takes place amid rumors that the couple were planning to wed in the Caribbean this summer.

Thurman’s publicist, Robert Garlock, did not wish to comment on Sunday.

Just over a year ago at this time, after Thurman appeared at the 2006 Oscars without Balazs, Garlock issued a statement saying that the Kill Bill actress and Balazs – who owns such properties as New York’s Mercer Hotel and the Chateau Marmont and the Standard in Los Angeles – had ended their relationship.

Poor Uma. Girl’s really unlucky in love, isn’t she?

“Unfortunately, it is true,” said the March 8, 2006, statement. “But we remain close friends.”

By last fall, however, the two were again more than just friends, being seen together everywhere from Copenhagen to New York – which Thurman and her two children by former husband Ethan Hawke call home.

Thurman and Hawke were together for six years, until she filed for divorce in 2003.

Thurman is currently filming The Accidental Husband, in which she stars as a talk-radio host who gets into trouble after dishing out love advice.

Uma Thurman is a gorgeous woman and she deserves better when it comes to love. I don’t understand why her relationship with this fella Andre Balazs would be so unstable but I believe the problem lies with him. He’s not even cute, so good riddance!

Daryl HanNAH Looks Like A Prune

MANY celebs have some horror in their past, but a trauma DARYL HANNAH went through is one of the worst I’ve heard.

The blonde actress – famed for making waves as the mermaid in Splash – narrowly avoided being sold as a sex slave in the late 1970s.

The 46-year-old told US TV crime show America’s Most Wanted that she was studying in Los Angeles when she was offered the chance to model for an album cover in Sin City (Las Vegas).

She soon realised the modelling trip was a scam and that she was about to be forced into a sex slave ring.

Hannah told host JOHN WALSH she and another girl escaped out a window and fled – but the memory continues to haunt her.

Wow, Daryl Hannah as a sex slave seems a bleedin’ hot idea. She should make it into a movie, where the storyline is that she hadn’t escaped, of course.

Now the brave A-lister is using her own movie millions for a low-budget film to help some of the 14,000 girls smuggled into America annually from Eastern Europe and Asia, by joining forces with international human rights groups to help free the sex slaves.

She said: “The more I learn, the more I am moved to take action.”

Daryl will go undercover – strapping microphones to her body and carrying a hidden camera as she travels to brothels around the world – to document the disturbing truth.

Haley The New Dork in Town

Prosecutors on Thursday charged Oscar-nominated actor Haley Joel Osment, who famously saw dead people in 1999 hit movie “The Sixth Sense,” with drunken driving and marijuana possession.

Osment, 18, faces up to six months in jail if convicted on the charges that arose after a car crash in suburban Los Angeles on July 20.

The actor suffered a broken rib and shoulder injury and was briefly hospitalized.

Prosecutors charged Osment with misdemeanor possession of marijuana while driving and with having a blood alcohol level higher than 0.08 percent, including a special allegation of having a level higher than 0.15 percent, said Deputy District Attorney Ed Green.

Are we looking at another former child star spiralling downwards ala Macaulay Culkin?

Osment is set to be arraigned on September 19.
